Bookish themed date night ~Solo style

All us single people might never have thought about participating in date night. There is, of course, only one of us and isn't date night supposed to be about romance?

Incorrect, my dear friends. As an act of self care I've promised myself a date night at least once a month, and of course some of these have to be book themed. Date nights for yourself are all about showering yourself with love and affection, and here is how.

Set the scene

First of all, make your space cosy and hygge. Light some candles, get a fire going, turn on some fairy lights and make a nest with blankets and pillows to snuggle up in. I usually sort out all my books that I want to read and stack them up beside me, then lay out my favourite snacks and drinks.

Pick your book

Your date night TBR pile must be something you want to read. If you're in the mood for romance and fun, go for Talia Hibbert or Jenny Han. If you want magic and thrills then Leigh Bardugo might be the one for you. You are sharing your date night with this book, so it needs to be the right one!

Snack attack

The worst thing you can do is be in the middle of a good scene, reach for the popcorn and find the bowl empty. Avoid this by scheduling regular breaks to refill your tea cup and snack bowls. My favourite snack platters are cheese, crusty bread with lots of butter, crisps and guacamole, carrot sticks and lots of chocolate!

Relaxation is key

Make sure you plan your date night for when you'll be alone or in a place you can have quiet time. If you're in the bath, you don't want the doorbell to ring, and if you're curled up on the couch you don't want your child to start jumping all over you! (Unless your child is a dog and then that is acceptable.)
Preplan your date night so that everyone knows you are not to be disturbed for a few hours.

Check your schedules pals, it's time to slot in some self care time and take yourself on a date to a bookish land of your choice 😍🥰

Love the idea of having a date night with yourself! And such a lovely theme too, what's better than books?!
